Parish Council Update April 2022

Date: 23 April 2022

I am writing this before the Parish Council meet on 21 March 2022 so any updates will not be reported until The Messenger is published in May.

The first point of contact for any matters relating to the Parish Council, is
the Parish Clerk on or on 07796 410694.

The Draft Minutes from the Parish Council Meeting held on 21st March 2022 can be found on the Parish Council Website. These Minutes are also affixed to the Parish Council Noticeboard located outside the Village Shop. I encourage residents to look at the Agendas and Minutes on the Gislingham Parish Council website at http://gislinghamparishcouncil. com to keep up to date on items discussed at meetings by Councillors. At these meetings there is time set aside for the public to voice any concerns they have in the Village.

The Six Bell’s Public House change of use planning application consultation at the Development B Committee Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 23rd March at MSDC, Endeavour House, Ipswich. As the deadline for articles for inclusion in the April Edition for The Messenger is 14th March the Parish Council are not able to advise residents on the decision, but this can be found on the Planning Portal at MSDC shortly after the meeting.

Arrangements are still being finalised for the next Litter Pick to take place in either May or June. When a date is agreed the details will be advertised accordingly.

The Parish Council has been advised that the 387 Bus Service from Gislingham is due to end in May of this year. Suffolk County Council are looking into alternatives. Updates from Cllr Jessica Fleming will be included as an addendum to the Parish Council minutes.

At our February Parish Council meeting we approved a contribution from CIL (Community Infrastructure Levey) Monies of £419.40 to the Village Hall Committee for Wi-Fi in the Village Hall for one year.

Gislingham Variety Club approach the Parish Council for funding for new Sound Equipment which will be available to anyone booking the Village Hall. Please ensure you request use of the equipment, if required, on the Village Hall Form when booking your event.

Our next meeting will now be held on Monday 25th April 2022 commencing at 7pm. This is a change from the advertised date for April as the 18th is the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend. We very much hope that residents can attend these meetings.

At the Annual Village Meeting in May the Watson Bowl is awarded to a resident (or residents) who have contributed significantly to Gislingham. The Bowl is engraved with the name of the recipient(s) and comes with a certificate of merit. There are no rules regarding who can be a recipient, but they cannot be a Parish Councillor or receive remuneration for their services. Please can you pass your nomination to the Parish Clerk at clerk@ no later than Friday 15th April so that all nominees can be considered at the Parish Council meeting to be held on 25th April 2022.

Last year the Parish Council also introduced a new award Volunteer of the Year so if you would like to nominate a resident for this award again please email the Parish Clerk at no later than Friday 15th April so that all nominees can be considered at the Parish Council meeting to be held on 25th April 2022.
